About this tool
Resize an image to exact dimensions, with one-click presets for Instagram, YouTube thumbnails, Twitter posts, and other common sizes. Useful when a platform demands specific pixel dimensions, when you want to standardise a photo gallery, or when you need a smaller version of a hero image for a thumbnail.
When to use it
- Hitting Instagram's exact post or story dimensions for a clean upload
- Producing a YouTube thumbnail at the recommended 1280×720
- Resizing a hero photo down to a specific thumbnail size for a gallery
- Standardising photos to one size across a portfolio
- Producing print-ready sizes (e.g., 1800×1200 at 300 DPI for postcards)
What to expect
Aspect-ratio lock is on by default — change one dimension and the other follows. Toggle off to force exact dimensions (will distort the image). Upscaling uses bilinear interpolation; for hero-shot upscaling, dedicated AI tools produce better results. Downscaling is high-quality and the typical use case.
Frequently asked questions
Will the image be stretched if dimensions don't match the original ratio?
Only if you explicitly turn off aspect-ratio lock. By default, changing one dimension automatically updates the other to preserve the ratio. Force-mode is available when you need an exact size regardless.
Can I upscale (make the image bigger)?
Yes, but bilinear upscaling can produce soft results. For dramatic upscaling (e.g., 4× or more), dedicated AI upscalers do better. For small upscales (10–30%), browser-side resizing works well.
Are the social-media presets up to date?
Yes, we track recommended dimensions for Instagram, X (Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok. Platforms occasionally tweak their specs — let us know if you spot one that's out of date.
